The Man Who Saved the Moon
One night, a foolish man was walking through a forest. He had been walking for a long time, so he felt very tired and thirsty. When he found a water well, he decided to stop and get a drink.
He bent down to pull up some water. As he looked down, he saw the reflection of the moon in the water. He gasped and said, "Oh no! The moon has fallen into the well! I must save it."
He quickly went to get a rope and a metal hook. He tied the hook to the rope and dropped it down into the deep well. Suddenly, the hook got caught on a big, heavy stone. "Aha! I have caught the moon!" the foolish man thought.
The man began to pull the rope with all his strength. He pulled and pulled, but the stone was too heavy to move. He gave it one last giant pull. Suddenly, the hook slipped off the stone, and the force threw the man backward. He fell flat on his back and knocked himself out.
After a little while, the man woke up. The very first thing he saw when he opened his eyes was the bright moon shining high in the sky. He smiled and said, "Thank God! I saved the moon."
The Lesson:
It is easy to make silly mistakes when we don't understand how things really work—and sometimes, we take credit for things we didn't actually do!
