Leo and the Secret of the Missing Colors
The Story
Leo was a talented little boy who loved drawing more than anything else. One day, his father came home from work and gave him a brand new, shiny box of paints. Leo was overjoyed and ran to his room to color a new picture he had drawn of a beautiful garden.
He sat at his desk and looked for the green paint to color the grass, but he couldn't find it! He searched the box again and again, but there was no trace of the color green. He felt very sad and was about to cry. His sister, Lily, came in and asked, "What's wrong, Leo?"
"There's no green in my paint box!" he said sadly. Lily smiled and said, "Don't be sad, we can make it ourselves!" She took the yellow paint and the blue paint and mixed them together on a small plate. Suddenly, a bright green color appeared! Leo was so happy and began to color the grass and the leaves on the trees with excitement.
After that, he wanted to color the oranges hanging on a tree, but he discovered that the color orange was also missing. This time, he didn't get sad; instead, he went straight to Lily. She told him, "Try mixing red with yellow." Leo did so and got a wonderful orange color to paint the fruit.
Next, it was the sky's turn. Leo wanted to paint it a light sky-blue. This time, he didn't ask his sister; he thought for himself. "If yellow and blue make green, then maybe..." He took the blue paint and added a little bit of white, and he got the perfect shade of sky blue.
Finally, only the sun was left. He started to think, "How do I make the color yellow?" Lily came in and saw him looking puzzled, so she laughed and said, "You don't need to mix anything, the yellow paint is right there in the box!" Leo felt a little embarrassed, then laughed too. He took the yellow paint and colored the sun with its golden rays.
When Leo finished, his drawing had become a beautiful and vibrant work of art. Lily was very happy for him, and that night, Leo slept and had happy, colorful dreams, just like his painting.
