Thank You, Kitty
"Kitty," her mom, Cat, called out one day. "I have a surprise for you!"
Kitty bounced over happily.
"You can have a lot of fun playing with this ball of yarn," said Cat.
Soon, Kitty was jumping around the yard with the yarn. "Watch me, Mom!" she shouted.
Just then, Mother Bird called out, "Kitty, please may I have some yarn to make my nest soft?"
Kitty looked at her mom. "But if I give it away, I won't have anything left to play with," she said sadly. "It won't be fun anymore."
Cat smiled gently. "It is actually much more fun to share things with others," she said.
So, Kitty gave some yarn to the bird. Kitty and Cat watched Mother Bird tuck the soft yarn into her nest.
"The baby birds really like the yarn, don't they, Mom?" Kitty laughed. "I like sharing! Who else can I share my yarn with?"
"Why don't you ask the rabbits?" Cat suggested.
Kitty went to the rabbits. "We are having a hopping race," said Little Rabbit. "A piece of yarn is exactly what we need to make a finish line. Thank you, Kitty!"
Just then, Cat called Kitty back over. "I have another surprise for you," she said. "Mother Bird brought this little bell for you to say thank you for sharing your yarn."
"What a beautiful present!" said Kitty happily. Then she turned to her mom and asked, "Would you like to play with it too, Mom?"
The Lesson: Sharing with others brings more happiness than keeping everything for yourself—and kindness often comes back to you in wonderful ways!
