What do you do when life gets tough? Can problems help you grow stronger or even make something beautiful?
🥚 The Potato, the Egg, and the Tea Leaves
Mary was a young girl who often felt upset. Every time she solved one problem, another one came quickly.
One day, she told her father, “I can’t take it anymore!”
Her father smiled and took her to the kitchen. He placed a potato, an egg, and two spoons of tea leaves on the table.
Mary asked, “Do you want me to cook?”
“No,” he said. “Just watch.”
He boiled water in three pots. Then he put the potato in one, the egg in another, and the tea leaves in the third.
After 15 minutes, he took them out and placed them in front of Mary.
“What do you see?” he asked.
“Potato, egg, and tea,” she replied.
“Touch them,” he said.
The potato was soft, the egg was hard, and the tea smelled lovely.
Her father explained: “The potato was strong but became soft. The egg was fragile but became hard. The tea leaves changed the water itself!”
Mary smiled. She understood that we can choose how to react to problems. We can become stronger—or even make something new and beautiful.
