When you can't fall asleep, your imagination can take you on the most wonderful journeys. This is a calming story about a little boy who found his way to sleep through a magical gateway in a painting.
The Magical Journey to Sleepytown
A little boy named Leo went to visit his Uncle Phil on the farm. When night came, he found himself all alone in a big, strange bed. He was so tired, but he just couldn't sleep. He missed his mother tucking him in and her goodnight kiss.
He tried counting sheep and humming a lullaby, but his eyes were still wide open. Suddenly, a gentle fairy named Fairy Moonbeam peeked through his window and hummed, "Hello little boy, are you on your way to Sleepytown?"
"The harder I try to sleep," Leo replied sadly, "the more awake I feel."
The fairy danced lightly into the room and flew towards a painting on the wall that showed a long road. "Come on," she said, "let's just step over the painting's frame together."
And just like that, they stepped right into the magical painting! The painted stars began to twinkle, and light shone from the windows of the little houses. Leo looked back and saw other children stepping into the painting, his friends among them.
They all walked together on the road to Sleepytown. They passed a sleepy old windmill, turning and turning. One of the little girls sat down under it and fell fast asleep. The rest walked on until they reached a sleepy little stream that murmured softly. Here, the other children sat down, and soon they began to nod off one by one.
Only Leo and the fairy were left. Finally, they saw a sleepy old man called the Sandman, rocking in a hammock. Leo was so tired by now that he quietly crawled into the hammock next to him and fell deep asleep on the road to Sleepytown.
"Ring, ring, ring," a little bell rang. Leo woke up in the big bed on the farm. The sun was shining. He raced downstairs. "Good morning," said Uncle Phil. "You're up early!" Leo replied, "I just got back from Sleepytown."
The biggest surprise came when his uncle gave him a mysterious box. Inside was a tiny paper town with little houses, a windmill, trees, and a hammock for the Sandman. It was a perfect model of Sleepytown! When Uncle Phil plugged it in, all the little houses and streetlights began to glow with a magical light. "Because you're a boy who loves dreams," said Uncle Phil, "I brought Sleepytown to you."
